How Did It Get This Bad? | Curbside | Passenger Facilities | Track Capacity
There isn't enough room for all the buses, taxis and personal autos that need to reach the station, in part because an internal taxi drive was closed in 2001.
Amtrak and the City of Chicago are taking several steps to correct the problem:
- Amtrak has created a managed taxi stand on Canal Street.
- The City of Chicago is building a new off-street station for the CTA bus routes. The bus station will have direct access to the Concourse.
- The City has proposed a new taxi island for Canal Street that would have direct access to the Concourse.
